Frequently Asked Questions:
When is my boarding fee due?
Boarding fees are due during the first week of each month.
What if I am going out of town?
You may place your share on hold if you notify us in advance. Holds are for a full month. If you plan to receive milk for any part of the month, the full boarding fee will still apply.
What do the cows eat?
Our cows graze on pasture year-round. During the winter, they are fed hay harvested from the same pasture. Additionally, their diet is supplemented throughout the year with vegetable scraps from Taylor Farms.
Do the cows receive antibiotics?
Antibiotics are only administered when necessary for the health of the cow. If a cow receives antibiotics, its milk is kept separate from the rest of the herd until the medication has fully cleared from its system.
Can milk be frozen?
Yes, raw milk can be frozen for up to six months. When ready to use, thaw it in the refrigerator for 2–3 days.
What is a seasonal share?
A seasonal share operates like a regular share but is only active from March through November. During these months, you will pay the monthly boarding fee and receive milk weekly. From December through February, your share will be placed on a mandatory hold, during which no boarding fees will be charged, and no milk will be provided. Currently, we only offer seasonal shares.
What should I do if I miss my scheduled pickup day?
If you are unable to pick up your milk on your designated day, you must contact us to arrange an alternative pickup day.
Can I collect double the amount of milk the following week if I miss a pickup?
This depends on the time of year and milk availability. If all shares are allocated, we may not be able to provide extra milk the following week. If you miss your scheduled pickup day you must contact us in advance to make arrangements for an alternative pickup day.
